Report: 6 Teams Have Better Offers For Larkin That Aren't On His Trade List

The Dylan Larkin trade drama continues, as his 10-team trade list has been hampering the Detroit Red Wings' ability to make a suitable deal that they're happy with. None of those 10 teams have the assets that the Wings are looking for.

There are, however, other teams around the league—not yet approved by Larkin as a destination—that DO have what Detroit is looking for. In fact, according to insider Pierre LeBrun, speaking on the French language Aux 4 coins de la LNH on RDS, there are more than six teams that have better offers for the Red Wings (the following is a translation from French):
(Red Wings GM Shawn Horcoff) has communicated with Larkin's agents, Pat Brisson and Matt Williams, the last few days to say, 'I've tried everything with the 10 teams on your list and I'm still unable to find a trade that makes sense for the Red Wings. Please, would it be possible to add other teams into this?'
Because there are other teams—and according to my information, 6 to 8 teams outside the list of 10 that the Wings have been talking with—whom they feel (have better offers).

Although he doesn't specify exactly which six to eight teams, he does go on to mention that the Montreal Canadiens (as we all know) are among the teams seriously interested, along with the Buffalo Sabres, the Boston Bruins, whom he calls 'very interested', the Los Angeles Kings, and others.

But LeBrun says this continues to be "a real poker game between the two sides", as the Larkin camp has not—as of late Tuesday afternoon, agreed to expand their list.

We should note, however, that insider Elliotte Friedman noted this past weekend that he's heard that there could be an update of sorts to Larkin's list coming any day now... Whether that means teams taken off, teams added on, or the list simply expanding. That all remains to be seen.

For now, though, it's status quo. Larkin sits out, his suspension without pay continues, and he has forfeited close to a quarter of a million dollars to this point.
