Maple Leaf Trade Rumors

Trade rumors continue to surround the Toronto Maple Leafs for the 2011-2012 NHL season. The Leaf fans got their wish when rookie sensation James Reimer was signed to a 3 year contract. The contract is worth $1.8 million per year. It is a fair deal for both sides. Reimer only played 37 games last season and has to prove that he can be the starting goalie for a full season before he deserves a bigger payday. In the same token, if Reimer faulters, the investment by the Leafs was relatively minimal and worth the risk.

Look for another young star, Luke Schenn to be signed to a long term deal soon. Toronto is shaping up nicely but they really need a top centerman. Burke is aggressive at targeting free agents and he has his sights set on Brad Richards. If he believes the Leafs are a legitimate playoff threat, Richards may be persuaded to sign with them. The New York Rangers, Tampa Bay Lightning and Buffalo Sabres are also aggressively pursuing Richards. Keep an eye out for more 2011-2012 Toronto Maple Leaf Trade Rumors.
