Phoenix Coyotes Trade Rumors

Trade rumors continue to surround the Phoenix Coyotes for the 2011-2012 NHL season. The Coyotes ownership situation has scared away players such as unrestricted free agent Ilya Bryzgalov. The Coyotes traded the rights to sign Bryzgalov before the free agency period of July 1st to the Philadelphia Flyers just as I predicted. Bryzgalov was traded for a 2012 3rd round entry draft pick and Matt Clackson. The return was not much. Considering Bryz did not plan on resigning with the Coyotes, any return is better than nothing.

The Coyotes signed Jason Labarbera to a two year contract recently. The contract is worth $1.25 million per year. Labarbera is assumed to be taking over the number one goalie duties. Unfortunately for the Coyotes, Labarbera has never been a starting goalie for a full NHL season and if they go with him I foresee a dramatic fall in the standings. They will not make the playoffs unless they trade for Tomas Vokoun from the Florida Panthers.
