Justin Williams eyeing comeback; 3 potential destinations

Justin Williams decided he wasn't ready to commit to another season shortly before training camp started, but it appears his feelings have changed, as the 38-year-old is eyeing a comeback to the NHL.

Last season Williams finished with 23 goals and 53 points with the Carolina Hurricanes, which made it even more surprising he was stepping away from the game after a big season in Carolina. The team made the eastern conference finals, and it was expected with Williams in the fold, the team would be able to repeat such a feat, however, the appeal wasn't there quite yet for Williams.

TSN's Pierre LeBrun is reporting that there has been dialogue between Williams and the Hurricanes on the potential of a return, as he has been staking by himself for the past three-to-four weeks.

If the Hurricanes are unable to come to terms with Williams, or for some reason fall out of favour, expect the Washington Capitals and the Pittsburgh Penguins to be favourites to land 'Mr Game 7'.

His playoff experience and leadership could also be a fit in Edmonton as well, so consider them a sleeper to sign Williams.

Not 100% if Justin Williams comes back to the NHL this season, but we know for sure, if he decides he wants to play, there will be a jersey somewhere waiting for him.
