Rumor: Florida Panthers Setting Up Goalie Trade This Offseason

The Florida Panthers have some riches in their crease as their goaltending depth has been on display lately. Rookie netminder and goaltender of the future Spencer Knight has recently put on a show for the Panthers and rumblings are the team will try to move Sergei Bobrovsky this offseason.

Moving 'Goalie Bob' will be no easy task as his contract is absolutely massive. The team will need to retain some of his $10 million salary per season and at 32-years-old with five years remaining on his deal, it's likely going to take a sweetener or two.

The Panthers also have Chris Driedger in the mix, who is an unrestricted free-agent next season. Ideally, the tandem of Knight and Driedger would be better suited not only on the ice but on the books as well. The 26-year-old Driedger is 13-6-3 on the year, with a 2.17 GAA and a .923 save %, both close to the top of the league. Meanwhile the former first-round pick Knight is 4-0-0 to start his career.

While the Panthers will feel out the trade market for Bobrovsky, it's going to be tough pickings. Teams that could be interested if the salary comes down include the Edmonton Oilers, Philadelphia Flyers, and Carolina Hurricanes.
