Anaheim Ducks Re-Sign Three Young Players

The Anaheim Ducks have re-signed Max Comtois, Max Jones and Josh Mahura to new contracts, according to Eric Stephens of The Athletic.

Comtois signed a two-year, $4.075 million contract. It will carry a $2,037,500 million cap hit. He is the most notable name of the bunch, as he is coming off of a breakout season with the team. In 55 games this season, he scored 16 goals and recorded 33 points. He is continuing to develop into a top-six winger and will be given plenty of opportunities to succeed moving forward. He is still just 22-years-old as well, so there is far more room for growth, too.

Jones' contract has the most term, as he has signed a three-year, $3.885 million contract. It will have an average annual value of $1.295 million, so it is quite cheap. The Ducks selected Jones in the first-round of the 2016 NHL Entry Draft. He has yet to take off as a player, but is showing some signs of improvement. In 46 games this past season, he scored seven goals and had 11 total points. He should continue to be a nice bottom-six forward for them. It also does not hurt that he throws the body often as well.

Mahura's deal is a two-year, two-way contract worth $1.5 million. It will pay him $750,000 at the NHL level and $100,000 in the AHL. Mahura spent this season primarily with the San Diego Gulls. In 28 games, he scored six goals and had 20 points, which is not half bad for a defenseman. He also suited up in 13 games with the Ducks, where he scored a goal and registered four points. It will be interesting to see if he is able to spend the entire season with Anaheim this go-around.
