Buffalo Sabres: 2 Players Most Likely Getting Traded Next

The NHL offseason is underway and there's been a ton of movement so far this summer. Along with mega-contracts being handed out and an expansion draft in Seattle, there's been multiple trades that will have huge impacts on the 2021-22 NHL season. Trades will continue this summer and of course into next season, so we shift our focus to the next deal for each franchise.

Follow along as we highlight a couple of players from each team who are most likely to be traded next. Our last piece was on the Columbus Blue Jackets, and for this episode we see who else besides Jack Eichel is getting dealt from the Buffalo Sabres.

2 Sabres Most Likely to be Traded Next:

Jack Eichel: Eichel is 100% getting traded, it's just a matter of time. We reported earlier on Monday how the New York Rangers were upping their offer and it sounds like they aren't alone. The Rangers are trying to outbid the Anaheim Ducks, Los Angeles Rangers, Minnesota Wild, and Calgary Flames. The wrinkle here is the fact Eichel came out publicly and mentioned he wants to eventually play for the Boston Bruins. A deal with the Bruins would be very difficult to pull off, however never say never.

Cody Eakin: The veteran forward is heading for unrestricted free agency next summer and will be one of the rentals on the market in 2021-22. Eakin is a bottom-six center who can play a decent shut down role, and at 30 years old, is approaching potentially his last contract in the NHL. Last season was not good for the Winnipeg native as he only recorded seven points in 46 games. Regardless, expect the Sabres to move Eakin by the trade deadline and a mid-round pick and prospect will be heading the other way.
