Montreal Canadiens Acquire Christian Dvorak From The Arizona Coyotes

The Montreal Canadiens have already found their replacement for Jesperi Kotkaniemi. They have acquired center Christian Dvorak from the Arizona Coyotes in exchange for a conditional 2022 first-round pick and 2024 second-round pick. The Coyotes will receive the better pick between Montreal and Carolina.

We reported on Dvorak potentially heading to Montreal earlier today, so it is not that surprising to see it come into fruition. When the news broke about them not matching Carolina's offer sheet for Kotkaniemi, it seemed even more likely that a deal would go down.

Dvorak has been in the rumor mill all summer. The Coyotes are clearly embracing a rebuild, as they already traded Oliver Ekman-Larsson, Conor Garland and Darcy Kuemper earlier this off-season. Now you can finally add Dvorak to that list.

In 56 games this season, Dvorak scored 17 goals and recorded 31 points. He should be a great addition to their top-six, as he not only produces well, but has been noted for his strong defensive play, too.

In 302 career games with the Coyotes, he had 67 goals, 79 assists and 146 points.

The best part about all of this is that Dvorak is under contract for four more seasons and has an average annual value of only $4.45 million. Montreal fans can breathe a sign of relief now, as they have a brand new center who is coming off of a very strong season. This is a move that simply needed to be done.
