Ottawa Senators Extend GM Pierre Dorion

The Ottawa Senators have signed general manager Pierre Dorion to an extension that will last until the end of the 2024-25 season.

Although his time with the team has not been perfect, it's clear that he is having them head into the right direction. He's done particularly well in the draft, as he's responsible for selecting Brady Tkachuk, Drake Batherson, Tim Stützle and Shane Pinto to name just a few. All four of these players seem to have very bright futures with the organization. He also locked up Thomas Chabot to a very solid contract, too.

After a very rough start to their rebuild, it seems that Ottawa is inching closer to becoming competitive. They finished last season with a 23-28-5 record, but ended the year on a very strong note. Thus, there is reason for optimism.

It will be interesting to see what else Dorion does for the franchise with this long-term extension.
