Buffalo Sabres Holding Firm on Asking Price for Jack Eichel

The Buffalo Sabres continue to talk trade with multiple teams including the Vegas Golden Knights and the Sabres are not backing down off their very high asking price for their captain Jack Eichel.

The Sabres are asking for one NHL defenseman, one NHL forward and two high draft picks. Both the forward and defenseman need to be 'NHL ready' and preferably under 25 years old. The Sabres know money is going to be a huge issue here and while they aren't interested in retaining any of Eichel's $10 million annual salary, they will consider taking on a bad contract for the next one to two years to get a deal done.

The Golden Knights and Sabres are in 'deep' discussions with Eichel front and center, as it's being reported by hockey's best insiders the two teams could easily finish the deal in the next week or so. Look for one of Nicolas Hague or Peyton Krebs to be heading to the Sabres.

The dark horse team here remains the Anaheim Ducks who see Eichel as the perfect replacement for Ryan Getzlaf next season. The Ducks have a number of young forwards and Hampus Lindholm who the Sabres love and there's certainly be a number of discussions between the two clubs regarding trade offers.

A trade for Eichel is coming very soon. It sounds like the Sabres want at least four pieces and by the sounds of it, either the Ducks or Golden Knights will win the sweepstakes. It's worth noting both teams have agreed to let Eichel have the back surgery the Sabres continue to say no to.
