Video: Avs' Nathan MacKinnon Leaves Game After Collision With Bruins' Taylor Hall

Colorado Avalanche forward Nathan MacKinnon left Wednesday's game against the Boston Bruins after a first period collision with Bruins' forward Taylor Hall. While originally it was called a five-minute major on Hall, further review showed it was a clean hit and MacKinnon's stick was actually the culprit resulting in the penalty being reduced to a two-minute infraction.

The Avs' superstar left the game in a bloody mess and did not return. His teammates rallied and ended up winning 4-3 in overtime, a night where they tried to get Hall to fight for his actions but he wanted no part of it.

Avalanche defenseman Erik Johnson let Hall have it throughout the second period and ended up getting called for cross-checking. When you hit a player with three or four cross-checks right in front of the ref, a penalty call is bound to happen. Even the ref had some fun with it.

Clean hit?
