Revealed: Leon Draisaitl Played Through Absurd Injury

The Edmonton Oilers Leon Draisaitl seemed to be in agony on the bench at times, but it wasn't until after the team was eliminated that the Oilers revealed the true nature of his injury.

During his end-of-season media rounds on Wednesday, General Manager Ken Holland announced that Draisaitl had been playing on a high ankle sprain since Game 6 of the first round. Yes, that is as insane as it sounds. And the fact that he led all NHL players in point production over the ten games that he played on it, is, well, completely mind-boggling.

The 26-year-old Draisaitl had another spectacular season for the Oilers, finishing the regular campaign with 55 goals and 110 points, 4th overall, and is second in playoff scoring with 32 points, only one behind his teammate, Connor McDavid.

Another teammate, Darnell Nurse, had already revealed the torn hip flexor that he played on during the playoffs.
