Philadelphia Flyers Rumors: Team Sets Asking Price For Defenseman

The Philadelphia Flyers are reportedly open to the possibility of trading defenseman Ivan Provorov, but they are not actively seeking to move him.

Provorov, who has two years left on his contract with an average annual value of $6.75 million, had been the team's No. 1 blueliner throughout the season, but his performance over the last three seasons has been underwhelming.

Although the Flyers are comfortable keeping Provorov on the team, they may consider a trade if they receive a suitable offer.

Provorov is believed to welcome a trade, and the Flyers are looking for the right price, using the Mattias Ekholm and Jakob Chychrun deals as a reference for what they want in return.

While they may not get the exact same return due to Provorov's recent performance, they will reportedly not even consider underwhelming offers.

Head Coach John Tortorella is reportedly a fan of Provorov, and the Flyers may be looking to obtain an additional first-round pick in the upcoming NHL draft, which could be a potential motivator for them to consider trading Provorov.

However, the team is not in a rush to move him, and they may also consider trading Carter Hart or Travis Konecny to obtain a first-round pick.

Over the last two seasons, Ivan Provorov has put up 16 goals and 58 points across 161 games, but his -37 plus/minus rating is less than desirable. Despite this, Provorov has been the Philadelphia Flyers' No. 1 defenseman and, as mentioned, is believed to be in good graces with head coach John Tortorella.

In summary, the Philadelphia Flyers are open to trading Ivan Provorov but only if they receive a suitable offer. Provorov is believed to welcome a trade, and the team may be looking to obtain an additional first-round pick in the upcoming NHL draft. Photo Credit:  Eric Hartline-USA TODAY Sports
