3 Offseason Targets For Ottawa Senators

Anthony Beauvillier, Washington Capitals forward

If the Ottawa Senators can keep Claude Giroux, which I think they may, there isn't a whole lot that needs to be added. What the big game changer is going to be for them moving forward is if the players they have can take the team to the next level. There will be some changes, so with that, these are some targets.

Joel Armia

The Senators will be looking for some forward depth and Joel Armia would be a great target to give the team what they need. He is a bottom-6 forward with some sneaky offensive ability, having scored 11 goals and 29 points this season. He is big and has 28 goals over the past two seasons playing a similar role to what the Senators need from their fourth line. The veteran is an upgrade over what they have at the moment and he fought his way back into the NHL last season, so his drive is still there.

Anthony Beauvillier

Anthony Beauvillier may have been forgotten about until he started impressing on the Washington Capitals this season after being acquired, but he still has game, especially in the playoffs. He has 17 goals and 36 points in 59 playoff games in his career and has a goal and five points through four games this season. The 27-year-old can move up and down the lineup playing wherever is needed and he scored 15 goals this season. He could be an option for the fourth line center role next season and he will be cheap.

Alexandar Georgiev

The Senators don't need a starter or backup goaltender, but they may need some depth. There is a high chance that Anton Forsberg finds a new place to play and the leading man to take over that role on the team in the NHL is Leevi Merilainen who had a great showing this season. The Senators also have Mads Soogard, but he didn't impress at all this season. Ottawa could use a veteran and a possible callup option in the AHL. Alexandar Georgiev likely won't get an outright NHL job after the last two seasons, but an opportunity like this can be his best way back.
