3 Potential Trade Destinations for Blues' Jordan Kyrou

3 potential trade destinations for Jordan Kyrou if the Blues do indeed plan to shock their fans by trading him this summer.

It would certainly be a stunning move by the St. Louis Blues, but we learned last week from beat writer Jeremy Rutherford that
the team has a big decision to make on Jordan Kyrou before his full no-move clause kicks in on July 1st

So what if, somehow, someway, the Blues decide they're better off trading their top goal-scorer who still has six years left on his eight-year, $8.125M AAV contract?

As Rutherford mentioned, "There’s been interest in him around the NHL in recent years." And it's no mystery why: Kyrou has averaged 34.6 goals and 70 points over each of the past three seasons, and was an All-Star with a career-high 75 points the year before that. He just turned 27, and is at the prime of his career.

Adam Gretz of Bleacher Report has listed several potential destinations for Kyrou if the Blues do indeed plan to shock their fans by trading him. Let's have a look at three of them:

3 potential destinations if the Blues decide to trade Jordan Kyrou

Calgary Flames

We shared with you this week insider information that the Flames are going to go "big game hunting" this summer for an impact top-six scorer. Kyrou would be a perfect fit for the team that finished with the fourth-worst offense in the NHL last season, based on goals-per-game, at 2.68.

As Gretz notes, Calgary has a slew of first-round picks over the next couple of years, and with the Blues light on draft capital in the upcoming three seasons (just five of their original nine potential picks in the first three rounds), it could be something that interests them.

Could the Canucks try to replace Boeser with a Kyrou trade?

Vancouver Canucks

Another western Canadian team that's in need of a finisher like Kyrou would be the Canucks. They're likely about to lose pending UFA Brock Boeser in free agency (he said so himself), and with Elias Pettersson struggling mightily this past season, Vancouver needs to give the offense a jolt. Heck, Gretz even suggests a potential deal that would send Pettersson to St. Louis in return for Kyrou, an exchange of a couple of long-term contracts.

"It doesn't exactly make St. Louis' cap situation any better," admits Gretz, "but given the ages of its centers behind Robert Thomas, as well as the fact that Brayden Schenn is involved in trade rumors, there could be an interest in adding another younger, impact center."

Detroit Red Wings

Another team that fell short of its playoff goals this past season, the Red Wings need to do something to kick-start this team to the next level. Detroit finished in the bottom third of the league in offense, with just 2.87 goals per game. Their top line can produce with the best of them, but they could definitely use a big boost after their Big 3 of Dylan Larkin, Alex DeBrincat and Lucas Raymond.

GM Steve Yzerman did nothing to help with that at the trade deadline, and as Gretz noted, that did not sit well in the locker room

A big move could be coming this summer.
