New York Rangers Sign Juuso Parssinen To Multi-Year Contract Extension

Juuso Parssinen, New York Rangers

The New York Rangers have announced that they have signed forward Juuso Parssinen to a two-year, $2.5 million contract extension. Starting next season, Parssinen will carry a $1.25 million cap hit for the Rangers, as reported by The Athletic's Peter Baugh.
Parssinen, 24, was acquired by the Rangers from the Colorado Avalanche back in March. In 11 games with the Rangers following the trade, the 6-foot-3 forward posted two goals, five points, 17 hits, and a plus-1 rating. In 48 games this season split between the Nashville Predators, Avalanche, and Rangers, he had six goals, 16 points, and a minus-5 rating.

Parssinen was a pending restricted free agent for the Rangers. However, now that the Rangers have gotten him signed to this new contract extension, he will not be hitting the free-agent market on July 1.

Parssinen Will Continue To Provide Rangers With More Depth

This is a low-risk move for the Rangers, as they did not need to spend too much to keep Parssinen around. With this move, he will continue to be a nice part of their forward depth, at a minimum.

Yet, when noting that Parssinen is just 24 years old, there is still time for him to potentially hit another new level. He looked solid for the Rangers following the trade, and it will be very interesting to see how he performs for them during his contract extension from here.

In 137 career NHL games over three seasons, Parssinen has 20 goals, 33 assists, 53 points, and 224 hits. His best season was back in 2022-23 with the Predators, where he had six goals and set career highs with 19 assists and 25 points.
