BREAKING: Oilers Sign Evan Bouchard To Contract Extension

Edmonton Oilers defenseman Evan Bouchard celebrates during 2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs game.

The Edmonton Oilers have officially locked down one of the NHL’s premier young defensemen.

According to Cam Robinson of Elite Prospects, Evan Bouchard has signed a four-year extension worth $10.5 million per year, cementing his place as a core piece of the franchise’s future.

A Major Payday Reflects a Rising Star

At just 25 years old, Bouchard’s trajectory has been nothing short of elite. Over the last two seasons, he’s notched 32 goals and 149 points in 163 games, while anchoring the league’s most feared power play. His postseason play has been just as dominant, scoring 23 points in 22 games during Edmonton’s 2025 Stanley Cup Final run, making clear he’s more than just a regular-season force.

This new contract leapfrogs previous projections, with insider Elliotte Friedman earlier suggesting a $9.5M AAV deal might be the landing point.

Edmonton’s Championship Window Stays Open

General Manager Stan Bowman made re-signing Bouchard a priority, especially as other roster pieces like Evander Kane and Connor Brown move on. With Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl still in the fold, Bouchard’s extension keeps the team’s Cup aspirations alive and well. The Oilers now enter the 2025–26 season with their power trio intact and $3 million in remaining cap space to fine-tune the roster.
