NHL News: Boston Bruins & Chicago Blackhawks complete trade

The Stanley Cup Playoffs may still be going on, but that hasn't slowed down the trade market of late. After the Ducks and Rangers completed a deal this week, the Boston Bruins and Chicago Blackhawks have followed suit.

Boston Bruins General Manager Don Sweeney announced that the team has acquired defenseman Victor Soderstrom from the Chicago Blackhawks in exchange for defenseman Ryan Mast and a 2025 seventh-round draft pick.

Soderstrom is 24, he appeared in 49 games in the Swedish Hockey League last season, scoring nine goals and adding 28 assists. The Gavle, Sweden native was originally selected by Arizona in the first round (11th overall) of the 2019 NHL Entry Draft. In 53 career NHL games, the mobile blueliner has scored once, and added 10 assists.

Mast on the other hand is two years younger at 22. He played 37 games for the Providence Bruins of the AHL last year, chipping in with five assists. At 6-foot-5, 217 pounds, he's a monster and brings some more size to the Blackhawks depth chart. Mast was originally a sixth-round pick of Boston back in 2021.
