NHL News: Hurricanes Sign Eric Robinson To New Contract

Eric Robinson, Carolina Hurricanes
The Carolina Hurricanes got themselves a great deal on one of their expiring UFAs. The team announced that they have signed Eric Robinson to a four-year extension at $1.7 million AAV.

Robinson played his first season with the Hurricanes and it also happened to be his first full season in the NHL at age 29. The most games he played in a season prior to 2024-25 was 72. As a bottom-6 forward, Robinson put up career highs in goals (14) and points (32) and fit right into the Hurricanes' system.

Considering his output, I would say that the Hurricanes got a deal, but he could also regress since it was the best season he's put together in his career.

Robinson gets financial security by signing for a longer term and a little less money and the Hurricanes keep a hard worker who will play on their fourth line. The team has a lot of money to spend and looks to be targeting some big names this offseason, but at the very worst, Robinson is a good placeholder in case Carolina's plans don't work out perfectly this offseason.

Robinson is definitely an NHLer and since he plays in the Hurricanes' system so well, this could be a strong and underrated signing. Fourth lines are also important and the veteran will be physical and tire out the opposing defenses as well.
