“We are excited to have Erik join our team today,” Nashville GM Barry Trotz said. “He brings great flexibility to our roster with the ability to play up and down the lineup in a variety of different roles. We are confident that he’ll be able to play alongside our young players, helping to accelerate their development.”
Haula, 34, had a dip in production this past season, with 21 points on 11 goals and 10 assists in 69 games for the Devils, in 14:42 average ice time per night. He also handed out 101 hits.
He was with the Preds back in the 2020-21 season, when he notched 21 points in 51 games. He has 337 points in 759 career games with a number of teams, including the Minnesota Wild, Vegas Golden Knights, Carolina Hurricanes, Florida Panthers, Boston Bruins and New Jersey Devils in addition to Nashville.
Hanzel, 22, spent the past season in the ECHL, where he totaled 22 points in 61 games. He was a top-pairing D-man with the Seattle Thunderbirds in junior in the WHL and even helped them to a league title in 2023.
