NHL Free Agency: 4 Teams In Talks to Sign Jack Roslovic

The NHL free agency period is one week old, and the best player left on the open market is forward Jack Roslovic. The streaky scorer posted 22 goals in 81 games last season with the Carolina Hurricanes, and is on four team's radars, thanks to his versatility to play either wing, or down the middle of the ice.

According to Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet, Roslovic has interest from the Toronto Maple Leafs and Washington Capitals. Two other teams mentioned by Luke Fox of Sportsnet, are the Buffalo Sabres and San Jose Sharks.

Roslovic, 28, was a former first-round pick of the Winnipeg Jets. He's played for the Jets, Columbus Blue Jackets, New York Rangers, and most recently one season with the Hurricanes. Throughout his 526-game NHL career, the 6-foot-1 forward has scored 102 goals and 260 points. He's also chipped in with 17 points in 45 career Stanley Cup Playoff games.

The Maple Leafs are looking to replace Mitch Marner on the right side of their top six, meanwhile the Capitals are trying to find players in their prime who can help carry the load for once Alex Ovechkin retires, likely after this season. The Sharks need to round out their roster and aren't likely to make the playoffs next season, and the same can be said about the Sabres. Buffalo's management team is very familiar with Roslovic from their days together in Columbus, so there's obvious ties there.

If Roslovic wants the best chance to win a Stanley Cup next season, he'll need to consider signing with one of the Capitals or the Maple Leafs.
