NHL News: Pius Suter Moves On From Canucks & Picks New Team

The St. Louis Blues have made a notable move, as they have signed Pius Suter to a two-year, $8.25 million contract. Starting next season, Suter will carry a $4.125 million cap hit for the Blues.

Suter was one of the NHL's top remaining unrestricted free agents (UFAs), but he has now found his new home with the Blues. This is undoubtedly a strong move for the Blues, as they needed to upgrade their third-line center spot. Now, they have done just that by bringing in Suter.

Suter just put together an excellent season for the Vancouver Canucks in 2024-25. In 81 games played, he set new career highs with 25 goals and 46 points. As a result, he has certainly earned this nice payday with the Blues.

Suter should not only be a strong addition to the Blues' top nine but also their penalty kill due to his strong defensive play. In addition, due to his ability to play all three forward positions, he also could move up the lineup for the Blues if ever needed.

In 364 career NHL games split between the Chicago Blackhawks, Detroit Red Wings, and Canucks, Suter has recorded 82 goals, 80 assists, 162 points, 204 hits, and an even plus/minus rating.
