NHL Trade Rumors: 3 Pittsburgh Penguins Involved in Trade Talks
The Pittsburgh Penguins may be the only team in the league who are in sell mode. President Kyle Dubas has been working the phones this summer trying to reshape his roster, and according to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman, have three players involved in trade talks.
They include Bryan Rust, Rickard Rakell, and Erik Karlsson. There's also goaltender Tristan Jarry, who struggled last season and is signed through the 2027-28 season that Dubas would like to move. The Edmonton Oilers could be an option, however, the Penguins will surely have to retain some of Jarry's salary, regardless of where he ends up.
We are now watching for Rakell and Rust. I've heard Rakell would prefer to stay in Pittsburgh, its just that it's not his call. I've heard he's not adverse to staying, but, ultimately, Dubas will make that decision. You know Rust has a lot of loyalty to the Penguins, I've heard there's a ton of interest in him. Again, it's up to Dubas and if he gets his price.
Erik Karlsson, the bonus is paid, his actual cash is really down. We'll see, a couple of teams I wondered about were the Florida Panthers and Dallas Stars. Jarry, does anyone look there? And, I know everyone always asks about Crosby, we talked the last pod about the rumors at the draft...one of the things I was told, is that Crosby hates it when this stuff starts.
Crosby is going to be linked to finishing out his career with his best friend Nathan MacKinnon in Colorado, and is likely going to have to listen to it until his playing days are over, unless a deal actually materializes before then.
As for Rust, Rakell, and Karlsson, they are the most likely to be moved, with Rust and Karlsson at the top of the list. Keep an eye on the Penguins, they will be busy this summer as Dubas is far from finished tinkering his roster.
