NHL Trade Rumors: Ilya Sorokin's Agent Makes Firm Statement On Client's Future
Shocking as it may seem, NY Islanders goaltender Ilya Sorokin's name was out and about on the rumor mill in the past week. Even noted insider Frank Seravalli mentioned recently that he'd heard the All-Star goalie's name out there in trade conversations.
With Sorokin established as one of the top goaltenders in the NHL over his five seasons, perennially in the top 10 balloting for the Vezina Trophy, it sounds ludicrous that the Islanders would consider trading him.
Now the netminder's agent, Dan Milstein, has confirmed that assessment, putting the rumors to bed once and for all.
Ilya Sorokin has a full no-trade clause and has never been part of any trade discussions — not at any point. Surprised this needs correcting, but here we are. There’s a difference between reporting facts and creating buzz around yourself. #WeAreGoldStar!

Milstein decided it was necessary for him to address the chatter with a post on X. He wrote that "Ilya Sorokin has a full no-trade clause and has never been part of any trade discussions — not at any point. Surprised this needs correcting, but here we are."
The 29-year-old goalie just finished the first season of an eight-year, $66 million deal with an $8.25 million AAV. He has a full no-move clause for the next three seasons, which then turns to a modified no-trade clause with a 16-team no-trade list for each of the final four years of the deal.
Sorokin has a career .916 save percentage with a 2.58 goals against average, with a 125-89-36 record and 22 shutouts. This past season, the 6'4" netminder started 60 games and went 30-24-6 with a .907 Sv% and 2.71 GAA.
And of course, his head coach, Patrick Roy, knows a winning goalie when he sees one.
