Michael Misa, No. 2 Overall Pick in 2025 NHL Draft, Signs With Sharks
After being selected with the second-overall pick in the 2025 NHL Draft, Michael Misa's goal heading into the summer was to make the San Jose Sharks for the 2025-26 season.
He's taken the first big step towards that goal, signing his entry-level deal.

Misa is no longer eligible for the NCAA with the signing, and will either play the 2025-26 season with the Sharks, or head back to the OHL.
Misa was named the OHL's Most Outstanding Player after leading the entire CHL in scoring last season with an eye-popping 62 goals and 134 points in 65 games. He also posted a plus/minus rating of +45. Those 62 markers were the most by an OHL player in nearly 20 years, since Patrick Kane posted the same amount with the London Knights in 2006-07.
Misa focused on making the Sharks out of training camp
"My thought process is I want to make San Jose next year," Misa said after the Draft. "That's where my head is at." He'll now get that chance.
“He’s going to get every opportunity to come into training camp... to make this team,” Sharks director of player development Todd Marchant said at the time.
It wouldn't even be surprising to see the Sharks give Misa a shot at slotting in as the team's second-line center, behind super sophomore Macklin Celebrini.
“Michael is a gifted player and a hard worker who we are excited to bring into our organization,” said Sharks GM Mike Grier after today's ELC signing. “We are looking forward to his continued development as part of our group.”
In the unlikely scenario that the 18-year-old isn't able to crack the Sharks' lineup for Opening Night, he'll have to head back to juniors, even though there's absolutely nothing left for him to prove there.
