Wild GM Calls Out Hockey Insider Over Kaprizov Contract Rumors
Minnesota Wild GM Bill Guerin has no idea where hockey insider Frank Seravalli gets his information. Seravalli reported on Wednesday that Kirill Kaprizov turned down the richest contract in NHL history, but not even a day later, Guerin's calling Seravalli's bluff.
"We can cut to the chase. Look, I don't know where this stuff comes from," Guerin said about the report. "I know two things: that info didn't come from us, and it didn't come from Kirill's agent. I don't know where it came from.Sources say #mnwild superstar Kirill Kaprizov’s camp turned down an extension offer believed to be 8-years, $128 million in a meeting on Tuesday in Minnesota that would have made him the highest-paid player in #NHL history in both AAV ($16 million) and total dollars.

"His agent and I have a very good relationship. We're not gonna let things like this get in the way. I still think we're in a really positive place with Kirill, and like I said, part of my role is to protect him. So we're gonna let this go. We just move on."
Kaprizov is entering the final season of a five-year, $45 million contract and the Wild's management team, and owner have made it clear he'll be staying in Minnesota for the foreseeable future, but they do still need to land on a contract that both sides are comfortable with.
Expect to see Kaprizov set an NHL record for AAV, and then Connor McDavid will come over the top once he signs on the dotted line in Edmonton.
