22 NHL Players Placed On Waivers
The 2025-26 NHL season is right around the corner and rosters are starting to take shape. GM's around the league are working collectively with their coaching staffs to ensure the best lineup possible is ready for puck drop on opening night. Needless to say, the waiver wire has been quite busy the last few days with 22 players placed on waivers with potential to clear Oct.1.
There's plenty of NHL experience on the wire right now for other teams to claim, including goaltender Matt Tomkins of the Edmonton Oilers. Tomkins signed a two-year deal with the Oilers on July 1, after spending the past two seasons with the Tampa Bay Lightning organization.
Tyson Jost was one of a handful of players waived by the Carolina Hurricanes as GM Eric Tulsky tries to get his roster down to a more manageable number to close out training camp.
The Calgary Flames placed depth forward Dryden Hunt on waivers as well, as he was one of four players the Flames waived. The full list includes:
Calgary Flames: Clark Bishop, Dryden Hunt, Yan Kuznetsov, Sam Morton
Edmonton Oilers: Matt Tomkins
New York Islanders: Matthew Highmore, Marcus Hoberg
New York Rangers: Brendan Brisson, Connor Mackey
Philadelphia Flyers: Anthony Richard
San Jose Sharks: Shane Bowers, Jimmy Huntington, Samuel Laberge, Oskar Olausson, Jakub Skarek
Winnipeg Jets: Tyrel Bauer, Isaak Phillips
