NHL Rumors: 2 Utah Mammoth Trade Candidates For 2025-26 Season

Lawson Crouse, Utah Mammoth

The Utah Mammoth have had a bit of a tough start to the 2025-26 season. At the time of this writing, they sport a 1-2-0 record and are at the bottom of the Central Division standings.

If the Mammoth continue to struggle as the season goes on, it would not be too surprising if they end up making some changes to their roster. Due to this, let's discuss three potential trade candidates for Utah for the 2025-26 season.

Lawson Crouse

Lawson Crouse's name has come up in the rumor mill before, so it would be understandable if he generated trade interest as we get closer to the 2026 NHL trade deadline. Contenders love hard-nosed forwards who can score like him, so he could be an interesting player to watch in trade talks this season. However, he would be more than a rental if another team acquired him, as he has a $4.3 million cap hit until the end of the 2026-27 season.

Nick Schmaltz

If Utah ends up being out of the playoff race as we inch closer to the deadline, Nick Schmaltz would be a prime rental candidate for contenders. The 29-year-old forward is a pending unrestricted free agent (UFA) coming off back-to-back seasons with over 60 points, so there would undoubtedly be a lot of interest there if he is made available.
