Seattle Kraken Get Tough Injury Timeline Update for Freddy Gaudreau

Frederick Gaudreau, Kraken forward

The Seattle Kraken's new bottom-six forward Freddy Gaudreau will be lost to the team for four-to-six weeks in a tough injury break.

Gaudreau suffered an upper-body injury in Thursday night's shootout loss to the Ottawa Senators. He went awkwardly into the boards after taking a hit in the second period and didn't return.

The 32-year-old center was acquired by the Kraken in a trade with the Minnesota Wild in June, just before the NHL Draft, in exchange for a fourth-round pick. In the first four games of the season, he's been centering Tye Kartye and Jani Nyman on the fourth line for Seattle. He has one assist and a plus/minus rating of 0, in 12:52 average ice time across their four games.

Gaudreau had a nice season with the Wild last year, registering 18 goals and 19 assists for 37 points in 82 games, playing in the bottom-six, but also getting a bit of second power play unit time due to a number of injuries across the Wild lineup. He counted five power play goals.

In nine NHL seasons, the Quebec native has 61 goals and 92 assists for 153 points in 414 career regular-season games.

The Kraken recalled John Hayden from the Coachella Valley Firebirds of the AHL in time for Saturday night's game against the Toronto Maple Leafs at Scotiabank Arena. Seattle has started the young NHL season at 2-0-2.
