Tampa Bay Lightning: Best Addition & Worst Subtraction Of 2025 NHL Offseason

Nick Perbix, Tampa Bay Lightning

The NHL season is just about here, which is undoubtedly exciting news for hockey fans. Due to this, we here at NHL Trade Rumors will be starting a series looking at each team's best addition and worst subtraction of the 2025 NHL off-season.

In this latest edition of the series, we will be focusing on the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Best Addition: Pontus Holmberg

The Lightning did not make any big splashes this offseason, but they did sign Holmberg to a two-year contract with an AAV of $1.55 million. Holmberg is now expected to be a solid part of their bottom six and should be used on their penalty kill because of his defensive play. The potential for him to hit another level is there, too, so this signing could end up being a good one for the Bolts.

Worst Subtraction: Nick Perbix

The Lightning lost a handful of players this offseason, but the most notable was Perbix. The right-shot blueliner signed a two-year, $5.5 million contract with the Nashville Predators in free agency. The Elk River, Minnesota native appeared in 220 games over three seasons with the Lightning, where he had 13 goals, 50 assists, 63 points, and a plus-27 rating.
