3 Sabres' Trade Candidates With New GM in Buffalo

The Buffalo Sabres made headlines on Monday as they've let go GM Kevyn Adams. It's been nothing but disappointing season after disappointing season, and ownership, and more importantly their fan base, had seen enough.

The Sabres announced Adams was out and Jarmo Kekalainen, who joined the franchise as a senior adviser in May, was promoted as Adams' replacement. He assumes the position on a full-time basis. Expect to see him get to work soon after the holiday roster freeze.

There's going to be big changes in Buffalo, including a new head coach at some point, but on the ice, here's three Sabres who are expected to be dealt before the deadline:

Alex Tuch

Easy one. Tuch's a pending free agent and has told the team he'd prefer a change of scenery. The 29-year-old earns $4.7 million this season and holds a five-team no-trade clause. Lots of options, and there will be lots of interest. Tuch's scored 11 goals and 28 points in 31 games, he plays in all situations, and has averaged 18:28 of ice-time per game this year. Tuch's been linked to the Minnesota Wild, Colorado Avalanche and the Edmonton Oilers.

Owen Power

Power was a first overall pick and hasn't even come close to living up to the hype. The 23-year-old is under contract at $8.3 million AAV through the 2030-31 season, however, his contract doesn't have trade protection kick in until 2029. There's no doubt the Sabres are going to see what they can land for Power, and expect to see them looking for a young forward who immediately slides onto their top line. Power's produced just eight points in 31 games this season.

Rasmus Dahlin

This one isn't out of the question just yet. Dahlin would be best suited to have a change of scenery and hit the reset button on his career. The mobile defenseman has been going through a ton of adversity off the ice and you can't blame him for not being able to concentrate on hockey, all of the time. Dahlin's 25, he's signed for $11 million AAV through the 2031-32 season, and he'll have full control over his next team. Dahlin would draw interest from a number of teams, but don't be surprised to see Carolina Hurricanes, Chicago Blackhawks, and Detroit Red Wings heavily interested.
