New Jersey Devils’ Jonas Siegenthaler ejected vs. Blue Jackets

Here's something you don't see much of anymore.

New Jersey Devils defenceman Jonas Siegenthaler was ejected on Monday night against the Columbus Blue Jackets, after his fight strap was not fastened on his jersey, and he got exposed during a tilt with Blue Jackets forward Adam Fantilli.

Fantilli and Siegenthaler drop the mitts and were exchanging blows before Fantilli took a hold of Siegenthaler's sweater, and rather quickly, pulled it over his head. And just like that, game misconduct.

It had been a long time since the Devils defenceman had been in a fight, so it could have been an honest mistake that he didn't tie himself down before the game. It was just Siegenthaler's fifth fight of his career, and the first since the 2021-22 season.

Fantilli was given a two for slashing, and a five minute major for fighting, which happened to be his first NHL bout.

The Blue Jackets went on to win the contest 5-3. Here's the scrap that got Siegenthaler kicked out:
