Report: 3 Western Conference Teams In Advanced Trade Talks
The NHL's trade market has picked up in a major way, and expect to see some action in the very near future.
GM's around the league now have a pretty good idea of what their team's makeup is, as the American Thanksgiving milestone weekend has passed, and with the Christmas holiday break coming up, this is usually when we see a few trades trickle in before the calendar flips to the new year.
According to hockey insider Chris Johnston, there's three teams to be on the lookout for:
Chris Johnston: It goes Vancouver, Nashville and Calgary in that order for most likely to start making some moves - Nielson Show (11/28)
The Vancouver Canucks sent a memo around the league to let GM's know they are open for business. Quinn Hughes could be moved at some point this season, as it's become quite clear he's not going to re-sign next July. Kiefer Sherwood is someone the team wants to move for a first-round pick, meanwhile ideally, they get Evander Kane off their hands as well. Conor Garland's been linked to the Boston Bruins, so we'll see what Patrik Allvin and Jim Rutherford can pull off.
The Nashville Predators enter Tuesday's action with a 8-13-4 record, sitting last in the Western Conference. GM Barry Trotz has already called out the players, they've called out themselves, and talks have heated up in a major way. Michael Bunting is surely being shopped, he's a pending free agent and plays a style contending teams love. Jonathan Marchessault and Steven Stamkos are also available, and will be a much more complex trade, due to their trade protection. Ryan O'Reilly is on the market, for a first-round pick, and top prospect. A steep price for a declining forward.

That brings us to the Calgary Flames, who just extended their entire front office. Ownership doesn't want a fire sale, because they have a new arena opening in two years. Regardless, something isn't clicking with this group, and expect to see some changes around the edges of their roster. It's going to take a mega-package for them to move Nazem Kadri.
Keep an eye on these three teams, especially the Preds and Canucks.
