Report: Sabres GM Kevyn Adams On His Way Out Of Buffalo

The Buffalo Sabres are internally discussing major changes, and it sounds like general manager Kevyn Adams is on his way out of town.

According to The Athletic's Matthew Fairburn and Tim Graham, their sources have confirmed Adam is being discussed as someone the organization is looking to replace. Adams has been with the Sabres since 2009, and was named GM back in June 2020. Adams is under contract through next season.

The Sabres will finish a six-game road trip Sunday against the Seattle Kraken, with a final decision on Adams' future expected after the team returns home, sources told Fairburn and Graham.

The Sabres have been brutal for years, and continue to miss the playoffs season after season. Buffalo shares the longest active playoff drought across the 4 major sports, with the New York Jets, having missed the postseason 14 straight years.

Talk about a tough record, the Sabres are 27th in the league currently, and under Adams have finished 24th, 20th, 22nd, and 26th.

Look for the Sabres to turn Jarmo  Kekalainen in the interim as he joined the front office as a senior advisor in May. Kekalainen has been a GM before, leading the Columbus Blue Jackets for 11 years before being dismissed back in Feb.2024.

Adams has a long laundry list of bad moves, including trading Jack Eichel, Sam Reinhart, Brandon Montour, Dylan Cozens, J.J Peterka. He's hired and fired Don Granato, and recently, brough back organizational legend Lindy Ruff, but frankly that hasn't worked out either.

Adams on his way out in Buffalo, is anyone surprised?
