Penguins suspend Egor Zamula for failing to report

Egor Zamula is going to have to pay the consequences for his decision making.

The Pittsburgh Penguins forward decided he didn't want to report to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the AHL, and has now been suspended by the organization. Zamula was acquired by the Penguins earlier in the week from the Philadelphia Flyers.

Zamula joined Penguins organization on New Year’s Eve, when he was part of the one-for-one trade that saw the Flyers trade the 25-year-old to Pittsburgh for forward Philp Tomasino. Zamula was with the AHL's Lehigh Valley Phantoms before the deal to Pittsburgh, he cleared waivers earlier in December, and then was getting hot, playing three games and posting two assists.

Zamula had been a regular with the Flyers to start this season. He appeared in 13 games, posting one assist, and was averaging roughly 14 minutes of ice-time per game. In 168 NHL regular-season games, Zamula has potted eight goals and 33 assists for 41 points. In 130 AHL games, he has posted five goals and 51 assists for 56 points.

Dating back, Zamula's represented his country on multiple occasions, including helping Russia take home the silver medal at the 2020 IIHF World Junior Championship, where he was named one of the top three players.
