The Ottawa Senators continue to battle their way through injury troubles, and this time it's veteran winger David Perron as he's expected to miss at least 5-to-7 weeks due to sports hernia.

Senators head coach Travis Green confirmed with the media on Thursday about Perron's injury, stating he's been dealing with it for quite some time, has powered through, but now, the nagging ailment has to be dealt with as surgery is on the horizon.

Perron, 37, has had a solid campaign with the Sens, scoring 10 goals and adding 15 assists for 25 points in 49 games this season. It's been a rough go the past couple of years for Perron, as injury have caught up to him in a major way, as he only played 43 games last season for the Sens, due to injuries combined with personal reasons.

Perron earns $4 million AAV against the cap and signed a two-year, $8 million deal back in July of 2024. He's scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent at season's end.

The Senators are currently tied for last place in the Atlantic Division, in what's been a disappointing season in Canada's capital. They have 53 points in 49games and are five points out of the playoff picture in the Eastern Conference.
