Mikko Rantanen Injured in Olympic Semifinal
Finland breezed to victory in the Bronze Medal Game at the Olympics on Saturday, with a 6-1 victory over Slovakia. But they did it without superstar Mikko Rantanen, who sat out the game with a lower-body injury.
Rantanen was hurt in third period of yesterday's game vs Canada.

Will be re-evaluated when he returns to Dallas regarding severity & timeline of injury.
EDIT: Apparently not concern this is season-ending...but exact severity TBD https://t.co/GxivYKkYqz
Rantanen suffered the injury during the third period of Finland's 3-2 loss to Canada on Friday in the semifinals.
“You don’t want to see anybody go down, especially a guy like that,” said Finnish defenseman Miro Heiskanen, also Rantanen's teammate on the Dallas Stars. “He’s a huge part of this team and a huge part of the Dallas Stars. It’s not fun to see that, but at the same time we have to focus on the game and we have a lot of great players here and we just stayed together and tried to do our best.”
There was a report that Rantanen walked out to celebrate the medal victory with his Finnish teammates on Saturday, and was "all smiles."
Elliotte Friedman reported that there was no concern that the injury was season-ending, but the exact severity was still to be determined. There will be no updates from the Stars until the Moose returns to Texas.
Dallas fans are, of course, waiting on bated breath on that news. The team is in a three-way dogfight for supremacy in the Central Division, and, in effect, the Western Conference. Dallas trails the Minnesota Wild by one point and the Colorado Avalanche by six points.
The Stars are back in action against the Seattle Kraken in their first post-Olympics game on Wednesday.
Rantanen has 20 goals and 69 points in 54 games this season with a +2 rating, while averaging 20:12 TOI per night. He's in the first season of an eight-year, $96 million deal ($12M AAV) with the Stars.
In five tournament games at the Olympics, he registered two goals and four assists for six points.
