Seth Jarvis replaces Brayden Point on Team Canada's Olympic roster

Seth Jarvis is heading to the Olympics after all. Now, we just wait to see if his close buddies will once again make a trip to see him play.

Jarvis gets the nod as Tampa Bay Lightning center Brayden Point is managing an injury, and despite Point's ability to play at less than 100%, he did the right thing by stepping away, opening up a spot for Jarvis to fill the void.

The 29-year-old Point had been ramping up his rehab of late, right in front of Team Canada and Lightning coach Jon Cooper, but decided the best scenario for the team was to bring someone to Italy who was 100%.

"Devastating," Lightning general manager and Canada executive Julien BriseBois told The Athletic's Pierre LeBrun. "Incredible selflessness on his part (and Cirelli's). They could've pushed to play at less than 100% but showed character of the highest order in giving up their spot to someone healthier and more apt to help Canada win gold."

Point produced 30 points in 37 games so far this season, meanwhile Jarvis has recorded 43 points in 48 games this season. Jarvis was surprisingly held off the initial roster, even though he played great in a checking role for Team Canada at the 4 Nations Faceoff.

Canada also ruled out Lightning forward Anthony Cirelli from the tournament because of injury, with Florida Panthers center Sam Bennett picked as his replacement.

Canada opens up their tournament on Feb.12 when they'll faceoff against David Pastrnak and Team Czechia.
