NHL Trade: Tyler Myers Finally Agrees to Trade

Defenceman Tyler Myers

He's been held out of the Vancouver Canucks lineup for a week now, pondering his future with trade offers on the table. Finally, Tyler Myers has agreed to a deal sending him to the Dallas Stars.

The return for the Canucks is a couple of picks.

They receive a second-rounder in 2027 and a fourth-rounder in 2029. Vancouver is retaining 50% of Myers' $3M cap hit for the remainder of this season and the final year on his deal next season.

The Detroit Red Wings were the first team to put an offer on the table, but he wasn't inclined to go there and used his no-move clause to block it.

Myers was born in Houston and still has some family there. The Stars were his first choice if he was forced to leave Vancouver. He was steadfast in his desire to stay on the Canadian west coast, and was a class act in his time in Vancouver.

The Stars' blueline now boasts some crazy size, as they add the 6'8" Myers to a defense corps, and a third pairing, that also has 6'7" Lian Bichsel.
