Marcus Foligno of the Minnesota Wild Calls Out the Stars' Jamie Benn In Public

The Dallas Stars and Minnesota Wild first-round series has been a competitive matchup in the Western Conference. With Jesper Wallstedt in the net and a deep forward group, the Wild have maintained their composure, unlike Jamie Benn.

The Stars would trail the Wild for the majority of game five, as a goal scored by fourth-line forward Michael McCaron would put the team two goals ahead, 3-1, in the third.

Tensions would boil over, as Benn cross-checked Ryan Hartman first in the ribs, and then once in the head at 5:15 in the third period.

Benn, a notorious instigator and known for his dirty antics, would be given a chance to answer for his transgressions from the Wild's Marcus Foligno, the team's tough-guy and power-forward.

At least that's what happened, according to Foligno, in an interview with Minnesota KFAN 1003 in Minnesota, said Benn backed down from answering the bell.

A cowardly act for someone who has no issue with hurting Hartman,  who has a checkered past of his own, didn't deserve that kind of punishment for what looked to be a failed check at 5:19 in the third.

Is Stars' Jamie Benn A Leader Or A Pretender?

Benn is supposed to be a leader on the ice every night for the Stars, but in game five against the Wild, he proved to be a problem, and not a solution.

A stat line of minus-one, four shots on goal, two penalty minutes, one hit, and one takeaway hardly seems like a difference maker all night. The Stars lost 4-2, and Benn would refuse to give his own team a fighting chance; instead, he'd rather engage in behavior that is likely to get him suspended for multiple games.

Foligno's quote bears significance, as he's willing to lay down the gloves for his teammates, Benn? It doesn't seem that's the case.
