Bruins' Viktor Arvidsson Reveals Double-Injury Mess That Knocked Him Out of Playoffs

Boston Bruins forward Viktor Arvidsson

After scoring two goals in Game 2 of their first-round series to help the Boston Bruins to a win, Victor Arvidsson was forced out of the lineup for the final two games against the Buffalo Sabres in Boston's six-game series defeat.

He's now revealed that he suffered two pretty tough injuries on the same play: a fractured rib and a punctured lung.

All that being said, Arvidsson said he was still hoping to return to the lineup for a Game 7. A Game 7 that would never come, as the Sabres finished off the B's with a 4-1 win in Game 6.

Arvidsson, the 25-goal scorer from this season, certainly could have come in handy for the Bruins, who scored only three goals total in the two games he was out.

Boston stole the 33-year-old forward from the Edmonton Oilers last summer for a fifth-round pick in the 2027 NHL Draft. He then went out and posted his best numbers in three years, with 25 goals and 29 assists for 54 points in 69 games in Beatown.

Unless Boston decides to extend him before July 1, he'll now head to the market as an unrestricted free agent, coming off his two-year, $4 million AAV deal. He should be healed up well ahead of training camp in the fall.

Arvidsson is a six-time 20+ goal scorer in his 12 NHL seasons, with 219 goals and 443 points in 682 career games. He also sports a plus/minus rating of +63, and is a strong 200-foot player.
