Flames & Maple Leafs Linked To Offseason Trade
Keep an eye on the Calgary Flames and Toronto Maple Leafs this summer, as the two teams could align on a trade together now that Brad Treliving isn't in the picture.
The Flames have notified teams around the league that they're open for business this offseason. The Flames only have four players who are untouchable in trade talks. GM Craig Conroy is willing to listen on just about anyone, and that includes center Morgan Frost.
Frost could be a great fit for the Maple Leafs. Toronto is in need of a second-line center as they prefer to play John Tavares in the three hole next season. Frost could slide into the Leafs' top six and provide them a solid two-way game.
Frost, 27, is signed for next season at $4.3 million AAV, and does own an eight-team no-trade clause that kicks in July 1. However, Frost has lifelong ties to the Leafs and would be open to heading home to play for the team his Dad worked for, for over two decades.

Frost recorded 22 goals and 43 points in 82 games last season for the Flames, averaging 15:30 of ice-time per game. The only concerning thing as far as fit goes for the Leafs is the fact Frost doesn't kill penalties, and Auston Matthews can't continue to be used as a primary penalty killer next season if the Leafs want him to get back to his scoring dominance. The fit here could be tough based on how the current roster is structured.
If this deal does go down, don't be surprised to see Nick Robertson dealt to the Flames as a one-year project before the pending restricted free agent is eligible for unrestricted free agency.
