Bruins Listening To Trade Offers On Pavel Zacha

Do the Boston Bruins really want to trade their big, reliable two-way center Pavel Zacha?

Insider Pierre LeBrun writes in The Athletic that they aren't hanging up the phone when teams call:
In a market starved for centers, the Bruins are listening on Pavel Zacha, which is an intriguing name to say the least. There’s a big difference between listening and wanting to move him, though.

Fair enough. Zacha has one year remaining on his four-year, $4.75 million AAV deal and becomes eligible for an extension on July 1. The Bruins do realize how important Zacha is to what they do, and their first choice isn't to trade him, LeBrun says.

My understanding is that the Bruins’ top priority this summer is to extend Zacha if possible... (He) obviously will be looking for a raise after posting career bests with 30 goals and 65 points this past season. But how those talks go will be balanced with whether teams step up in a real way in trade talks.

With centers at a premium these days (there are precisely two of them listed on most rankings of the top 20 UFAs available), it's just possible that a team does "step up in a real way." NHL teams are dying for top-six centers.

LeBrun notes that Zacha has submitted his 8-team no-trade list to the Bruins.

Now, after posting between 14 and 21 goals in each of the previous five years, can Zacha, 29, repeat that 30-goal performance? That remains to be seen.
