It's a haul for St. Louis, as they receive Connor McMichael, Milton Gastrin, and the 16th pick in this week's draft in return. This deal gives the Blues no less than four first-round picks in the 2026 Draft.
Kyrou has been on the trade block for the better part of a year and a half, and he finally waives his no-trade clause to head to the nation's capital.
He posted three straight 30+ goal seasons, averaging 70 points a year from 2022 through 2025. He dipped a bit this year in a tough season in St. Louis, to 18 goals. But the 28-year-old has established himself as an elite, highly-skilled forward, who also happens to be on a fairly team-friendly deal with five years to run at $8.125M AAV. The Blues are not retaining any salary.
McMichael, an RFA, is a versatile center/forward who can play up and down the lineup. He broke out with a 26-goal season in 2024-25, though settled back in to a 14-goal campaign this past year. Gastrin is a 19-year-old center who was drafted in the second round last year and spent the season in Sweden.
