NHL Trade: Panthers & Ducks Swap Signing Rights To UFAs, Gudas Back To Florida
Trading grit for grit, and punishing physicality for punishing physicality, the Florida Panthers and Anaheim Ducks have swapped the rights to two pending unrestricted free agents. Radko Gudas' rights head back to South Florida, while AJ Greer's go to the West Coast.
We have acquired the rights to Radko Gudas from Anaheim in exchange for the rights to A.J. Greer.

Both players will become UFAs at 12 noon on Wednesday if not signed by their new clubs.
With the Panthers having already acquired Brady Tkachuk's punishing aggressiveness to go with that of his brother Matthew, Sam Bennett and Brad Marchand, bringing back Gudas to this squad almost seems like overkill (assuming they get a deal done with the 36-year-old hard-nosed D-man). Gudas spent three seasons with the Panthers from 2020 through 2023, averaging over 300 hits per year. He is often referred to as one of—if not THE—dirtiest player in the NHL.
Not that Greer, and his 6'3", 224-pound frame, is anything to sneeze at. With two consecutive seasons of 200 hits and top-10 finishes in penalty minutes, Greer brings some major physicality himself to any lineup. It's just that he does it in around 9-10 minutes of ice time per night, while Gudas can log ice time up to double that amount, if necessary
We'll see if their new clubs can come to respective agreements before the clock strikes 12 on Wednesday afternoon.
