Philadelphia Flyers sign Hunter McDonald to two-year extension
The Philadelphia Flyers took care of some internal business on Tuesday, as the team announced they've re-signed Hunter McDonald to a two-year contract extension.

The 24-year-old defenceman is inked to a two-way deal that sees his NHL average annual value land on $912,500. McDonald's a homegrown talent and someone many around the Flyers feel could contend for some depth minutes on the blueline, and someone who could make an impression at training camp.
McDonald was a restricted free agent this summer and it's nice to see the Flyers finally come to terms so he can have some reassurance heading into the final weeks of the offseason. McDonald dressed in 65 games last season for the American Hockey League's Lehigh Valley Phantoms, posting six assists. He also dressed in one NHL game for the Flyers, recording one assist.
McDonald's a Fairport, New York native and was originally a 2022 sixth-round pick out of the USHL. He attended Northeastern University and in his last year of NCAA, recorded one goal and 13 assists, for 14 points in 35 games.
The Flyers currently sit with $13.7 million in cap space, in what's been a very interesting offseason in Philly. Leo Carlsson was inked to an offer sheet, but the Anaheim Ducks matched, leaving GM Daniel Briere to continue his search. There's some rumblings the Flyers are talking to Adam Fantilli, so we'll see where this goes...
