Winnipeg Jets Struggling Through Connor Hellebuyck Trade Talks

Connor Hellebuyck wants out of Winnipeg, and while the Jets management team continues to try and move him, it sounds like some of the trade offers that were coming in at the NHL Draft in June, have suddenly disappeared.

Hockey insider Elliotte Friedman confirmed that some of the things that were available, aren't anymore, and everyone is pointing to the Buffalo Sabres. The Sabres were very close to acquiring Hellebuyck back in June, but have since appeared to have a change of heart of who exactly was going to be included in the trade. It's very likely now, that Jack Quinn or Zach Benson have been pulled out, and meanwhile, goaltender Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen has a 5-team no-trade clause, and there's potential that the Jets are on the list.

Hellebuyck is by far the best goalie available on the trade market, but it appears the Jets have hit a snag in trade talks since the Vezina-trophy winner goaltender went public with his demands. He has five years left on his deal at just over $8 million AAV, and owns a full no-trade clause until July, when things change to a 10-team approved trade list.

As of trade destinations heading into training camp, Hellebuyck continues to be part of discussions with the Carolina Hurricanes, Colorado Avalanche, New Jersey Devils, Vegas Golden Knights, and San Jose Sharks, with the Sabres also, somewhat still involved.
