Maple Leafs Have Options to Replace Zach Hyman

The Toronto Maple Leafs may look a little bit different next season as general manager Kyle Dubas has some work to do this summer. With one of their most important players - Zach Hyman, an unrestricted free agent, there's potential he could price himself out of the Leafs wheel house. If Hyman ends up walking, look for the Leafs to make a trade to acquire someone to play with Auston Matthews and Mitch Marner.

3 Players Who Could Replace Zach Hyman

Tyler Bertuzzi: The Maple Leafs would love to get their hands on Bertuzzi as the team is looking for some more killer instinct this summer. The 26-year-old is a restricted free agent and due a new contract, which works well in the hands of the Leafs as they could structure his new deal to benefit the team. Some prospects such as Timothy Liljegren, Mikhail Abramov or Sweden's Filip Hallander could interest the Red Wings to pull the trigger.

Viktor Arvidsson: The Nashville Predators workhorse plays a similar style to Hyman as he uses his speed and positioning to gain advantage and retrieve pucks. Arvidsson has more upside when it comes to scoring goals as he has a couple of 30-goal seasons under his belt. The 28-year-old is signed for three more seasons at $4.25 million, which is music to the ears of Leafs management. Perhaps an offer of Morgan Rielly, Pierre Engvall and a prospect gets the job done here.

Tom Wilson: If the Leafs want Wilson they will have to over pay, but there's certainly no better fit for the team for next season. Wilson plays a nasty mean game and brings a killer instinct to each shift and would change the entire identity of the Leafs. Of course the Capitals are likely not shopping him for trade, but if the Leafs come in with a serious offer, perhaps discussions move further. Wilson holds no-trade protection to 10 teams, but the Toronto native would love a chance to play for the Leafs. Dubas would need to offer Rielly and top scoring prospect Nick Robertson to even get Washington's attention.
