New York Islanders Poised for Trade this Summer

The New York Islanders came up short as they were once again eliminated from the Stanley Cup Playoffs by the Tampa Bay Lightning. While general manager Lou Lamoriello has shown the past two seasons he's capable of making effective changes, the job is certainly not done. The Isles are in cap hell, and a trade is inevitable on Long Island.

Josh Bailey Will be Available This Summer

Look for the Islanders to make 31-year-old winger Josh Bailey available, as he has three seasons left at $5 million and does not hold no-trade protection, which is rare for this team. Bailey has spent his whole 13-year career on Long Island, and this season produced 35 points in 54 games. He's a primary set up guy, who loves to distribute the puck. There's going to be trade interest in him, especially with his 71 playoff games under his belt where he's managed 50 points.

Teams who the Islanders will likely be in contact with include the Los Angeles Kings who are shopping for a top-six forward and the Minnesota Wild who continue to kick tires on just about everyone.
