Ottawa Senators: 2 Players Most Likely to be Traded Next Season

The NHL offseason is underway and there's been a ton of movement so far this summer. Along with mega-contracts being handed out and an expansion draft in Seattle, there's been multiple trades that will have huge impacts on the 2021-22 NHL season. Trades will continue this summer and of course into next season, so we shift our focus to the next deal for each franchise.

Follow along as we highlight a couple of players from each team who are most likely to be traded next season. Last episode we highlighted a couple of Philadelphia Flyers who could be dealt, this time around we showcase the Ottawa Senators.

2 Senators Most Likely Getting Traded Next Season:

Chris Tierney: There was a ton of interest this summer in the 27-year-old center and some were surprised he wasn't selected to the Seattle Kraken expansion draft. Tierney is entering the final season of his contract and will be an unrestricted free agent next summer. This is a huge year for him and if he's able to get back to form and improve on his 19 points in 55 games last season, expect Tierney to be dealt at the deadline for some assets.

Nikita Zaitsev: The right-handed defenseman has been impressive in his time in Ottawa and with three seasons left on his deal at $4.5 million, there's become a market for his services. The team has a number of younger options they can play on the right-side, so if they decide to continue to rebuild, Zaitsev will be dangled on the trade market for some assets.
